She was pre-deceased by her loving husband and life companion Cyril Plaster, on Jan 16, 2007 after 66 years of wonderful marriage, and pre-deceased by her father Thomas, in 1923 and mother Margaret, in 1934, and her siblings Wellington Sadler, Susannah Meyers, Violet Green, Muriel Sadler, Bert Sadler, Lawrence Sadler and their spouses. Lillian was born Sept. 11, 1919 at Drake SK., to parents Thomas and Margaret Sadler. She attended elementary and high school in Drake, SK. Following her marriage to Cyril on June 14, 1941, they farmed in the Drake area and were very active in the social and recreational life of the Drake and Lockwood communities. She was an active participant on the farm, being an expert grain truck driver during harvest and keeping track of the grain markets. Upon retiring from the farm, they relocated to Saskatoon in 1979, where they lived in the Wildwood neighbourhood. Lillian was always very involved in her community, volunteering with the Drake United Church UCW, was a Secretary to the Kneller School District, and participated in many McClure United Church volunteer opportunities. She was an accomplished curler, golfer, bowler, and loved dancing away the evenings on Friday nights with Cyril. It was also well known that her knowledge of the rules of hockey, baseball and football surpassed most avid spectators. Her garden was always full of fresh flowers and produce. She was a superb cook and her famous butter tarts, cinnamon buns and apple pies were treasures quickly devoured. She was a caring and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was most often described as being both sweet and feisty, having both a wonderful sense of humour and a keen Irish wit. She led by her example of doing for and with others, rather than directing. She brought warmth and caring to family, friends and strangers alike. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Quality Care Homes for their exceptional care during Lillian's time living there. A Memorial Service and reception in celebration of Lillian's life will be led by Rev. Laura Fouse on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 1:30pm, at McClure United Church in Saskatoon. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery following the reception. For those so wishing, donations in Lillian's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan.
