George participated in many sports (hockey, baseball, softball, curling and hunting in particular), and maintained a keen spectator interest in many sports. His love of music, especially singing, was fostered through his participation in church choirs and community entertainment groups in Regina and Kelowna. He loved gardening, especially flowers. His volunteerism and dedication were evident in the many roles and executive positions he assumed as a dedicated member in community groups. He was a member of Lion's Clubs in Regina and Rutland; his leadership in the development of the Mission Creek Park typified his involvement.
